Tips form Hadlow College

Hadlow, Kent's premier college and one of the UK's leading specialist colleges, has a renowned equine department.  Starting this month, the college offers some tips, advice and suggestions.

            • Before leaving a show ground, make certain that absolutely every piece of litter and all horse droppings have been disposed of in bins provided by the organisers or bagged up to take home.  Owners give permission for events and shows to be held on their land deserve this courtesy.

            • Show organisers put in a huge amount of time structuring and running events and often all - or most - of their work is undertaken voluntarily. If something goes wrong - even if it's fairly trivial - they are bound to receive complaints.  Surely they are equally deserving of a note of appreciation when things go well?

            • Most riders who hire schooling facilities are responsible people and they take care to ensure jumps are replaced and the area left as tidy as possible.  The tiny minority - who just can't be bothered may create safety hazards - and certainly create a nuisance.

            • Make a resolution to pick up one piece of someone else's litter every day.  If everyone carried out this simple task beautiful Britain would soon be litter and rubbish-free.
